Temple-Rutgers season opener postponed till Saturday by Ida

PISCATAWAY, N.J. (AP) — The season-opening soccer sport between Temple and Rutgers scheduled for Thursday evening has been postponed till Saturday after the remnants of Hurricane Ida dumped historic rain over components of the Northeast.

In line with the Related Press, the stadium sits on the banks of the Raritan River and roads resulting in the stadium have been closed after greater than 8 inches of rain fell Wednesday within the Piscataway space.

Rutgers officers stated Saturday’s kickoff can be at midday and that each one tickets and parking passes shall be honored.

The sport was to be the primary at Rutgers’ 52,000-plus seat stadium with out attendance restrictions since 2019.

Crowds have been restricted final season because of the coronavirus pandemic.
